When using an oversize tire, or upgrading to an aftermarket spare tire carrier, the stock third brake light on a TJ has to be relocated or removed altogether. Here's an innovative solution to providing a third brake light.

Here's a write-up for option 1 of this upgrade.

Option 1:
If using stock wheels, the 2" round LED light with red or clear lens.

With this option, the 2" light press fits in to the wheel center hole in place of the center cap.

Clear lens version is shown below:

Option 2:
Aftermarket wheels, with an "open" centercap, 2.5" grommet and either a 2" or 2.5" LED.
2" LED is shown below, but 2.5" is recommended

Doing this upgrade does require knowledge in wiring, as well as some means of getting the wires in behind the spare tire without pinching them. Shown below is a Rockard4x4 tire carrier, which is made to accomodate this mod because it is pre-drilled in the center.
